February BJP finished

I have to thank the Lone Beader for this one, as her style of bead embroidery inspired me to try something similar. I used layers of felt to make the Mermaid & the fish stand out from the background fabric..

Here are a couple of progress pictures so you can see what I did, the top side of the Mermaid is about a 1/4 " thick and the lower side is flat, so hopefully I have achieved a 3D effect with her & the fish..

I'm not sure about the face of the mermaid but hey she does have a great head of hair LOL

Her tail is ruffled with sculptural bead weaving, this last picture is the most true to life colour I think.... Now onto the next one

You can see this picture enlarged at my webshots allbums as my pictures still won't open to larger images even tho they are HUGE :(

  8. Your picture is has great depth. Wasn't that fun trying something new. That is one thing that I have really enjoyed about these monthly pages is challenging myself to do something different. I wish I could click on your pictures though to get a closer look. Oh well.

  9. I love your underwater themed pages - all of them! What did you use as a background for this one? (Your mermaid's hair is great.)

I haven't figured out how to get specific pictures to open larger either. Some seem to go there but others don't. If I find out what the secret is I'll try to let you know!

  12. She came out just great. I love her tail and hair. The 3-D effect worked out very well. And she would look so cute peeking in the window of the yellow submarine, wouldn't she? Oh well, she'll just have to enjoy the fish she's got!

  13. Kiwi Ellen! This is great! I love the color choices & all the texture! I wish we had touch-a-vision so I could reach in the computer & touch her! And her cute buddy! I also like how you incorporate different materials! Including those hands!
    Great work!
