This is the side yard looking west towards the greenhouse, the house is to the north /or right of this yard
Looking towards the house from the vegetable garden, which sits behind the greenhouse. The bright blue building to the left is my potting shed, that Joe built behind his garage/workshop.
The back deck, this is where I love to sit with a cuppa any time of day;) The hot tub is under that grey area on the deck & is a life saver, especially when I get home from my evening shift at work ~ ahhhhh
The front yard looking north, there are no lawns here to be mowed ;) That is the front of the garage where the motor home lives & beyond that, the old spartan trailer which is home to Joe's studio where he builds his robots & stuff that you can see here
My plant nursery, I propogate cuttings to sell in plant sales in the spring & summer.
The Gunnera with Joe standing behind it, it reached about 7 feet this year! This is part of the view from our deck. A little bit of the tropics in our back yard.
One of my favorite plants the Hebe, Aumumn Glory. Isn't it a beautiful shade of purple?
Looking in through Joe's 'Moon Gate', which is between the house & the garage. You can see the door to his workshop and the front of my potting shed.. Just one of my giant sunflowers...
This is a 5 year old Bonsai vine maple that I started from a seedling, it started as a 'what if' - This is the first year the leaves have been small, so something is happening as it should. I now have several more in the green house to see if I can do it again ;)
And lastly here is what I am beading at the moment, it's slow going though so don't expect to see it finished any time real soon LOL but then who knows?

Ellen your garden is amazing! I love the moon gate between the buildings, good idea. Looks like it's been a good summer down there.
Thanks Kelly, he built another one on the south side too as we put a fence up over there to discourage dogs & deer from getting into the garden - of course a 'deer chaser' mounted on th fence helps lots with the deer too. Did you notice your window hanging on the deck? Joe takes it down for winter & hangs it back up each spring.. Yes a good summer although spring was late taking off..
I am very envious of your lovely deck, not that we get much weather for sitting out in England! Your garden looks beautiful and I especially love the "moon gate". I was very interested in the green stone you have used in your beading project, it looks almost like a green tigers eye...Kath x
Great garden, Ellen! No wonder you don't have time for beading in the summertime. I do like that cuff though.
Ok, you're hired! ;-)
My yard really needs someone with a green thumb like you, Ellen!
Beautiful garden! I love that Gunnera plant!
Hugs,
Saby
NO DEAL, Saby. I am keeping her. After 8 years, we are almost used to each other...
Really, though, Ellen has taken a place that was once Joe The Bachelor's house and made it a lovely home.
That is a VERY valid draw away from the beading...it makes me jealous! (didn't have much time for gardening this year...maybe next!)
I'm going to have to see what the recommended zones are for gunnera....I need something big for the backdrop, since smaller plants get lost with all the natural greenery around.
I haven't been around in forever but I sure enjoyed seeing all the flowers especially as we are going in to winter and almost nothing is green anymore.
