September BJP

OK this is it, no really, I mean it...

My theme this year is 'The Women in my life' & starting out for September is my oldest sister Nancy, who turned 66 this month.. Happy Birthday Nancy dear!

Nancy is now the matriarch of our family as we lost our dear Mother last December

I used the freezer paper method to transfer Nancy to plain white fabric & treated it so that the ink would never smudge (at least I sure hope it won't) I learnt a few things in the process - don't we always - Like fiddling with the contrast to make the picture darker so that you can actually see it when it is printed out LOL

My pages are 'dolls' that are 6" tall & fit into a milk bottle lid, which will be weighted before the doll is glued into it. I plan to use the Women in my family, including my dear Mother & a few special friends to make my 12 doll pages

This is my progress so far....

I have to tell you that when I told Joe (dh) that I was going to paint the milk bottle lid black, he informed me that it is not possible as the paint wouldn't stick.. Well telling me that something won't work is like a dare, so I Mod Podged the edge of the lid & then painted it & guess what? It worked LOL

What a great idea!!!! I love it! I hope you include yourself, because you are a special, fantastic woman in your life too!
Love the challenges you have set up for yourself and I really look forward to see them come together - even as little as making the milk cap black!
That's awesome!
cheers, Denise

What a super idea! I also love the fact that when you are done with each doll, you are done; if you know what I mean. All my pages will have backs and edges before I go on to the next one. It was so boring trying to do them all at once for last year.
Love your creativity, gf.

What a great theme, Ellen. I too hope you will include yourself. And I like that your shape and idea is totally different from last year.

Thank you all & yes I intend to be in the group as well, along with my sisters, daughter, granddaughters & a couple or 3 friends..

Arline I love that aspect too. How it would be finished was a big factor when deciding what to do.. I liked the frames I used last year but I know displaying them is going to take some space, so I wanted something different this time round..

These are going to be terrific. And if you want to, you can tell your husband there is a spray paint out called Fusion made just to cover plastics!! But you made it work in your own way and that's terrific. Can't wait to see the doll when it's finished.
