Long time no post..

I have been battling with a bit of depression, not something I enjoy. So rather than subject my bloggy friends to my daily woes, I have been reading but keeping myself mostly to myself.

I am finally beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel and it's not a train but bright shiny beads twinkling in the light of my Ott-Lite.

Last week my DH read in the paper that a bead shop in Nehalem (down the Oregon Coast about 1 & 1/2 hours south of us) was going out of business with all stock at 50% off. So on Black Friday, we headed south in the wind & rain to that little bead shop & I loaded up on sparkly beads, which as we all know, lift your spirits more than almost anything..

Crossing the Megler Bridge from Washington to Oregon in the wind & rain. Astoria sits beneath the hills that you can see in the distance & that bit that sticks straight up, is the top of the bridge where the ships pass below - Yep we drive right up that thing!

These are the sparklies I got, they are size 11 cuts except for the reds (12s) & the oilslick purples on the right (9s) I also got some turquoise beads, some lovely blue pearls & some metal nailheads. The little Swarovski flower sew-ons are from a couple of E-Bay buys that I just had to have..

I love Nehalem, it's a sweet little town. Manzanita has that nice coffee shop with fancy magazines, doesn't it?

I bet crossing that bridge on a sunny day is a beautiful site! I went to my LBS on Black Friday also..40% off..Just like flies to honey! Looks like you got a nice stash.

Glad you are feeling in better spirits. I take meds for depression so I know what going through it is like.

The little sparklies can be lifesavers sometimes, can't they!
I love that bridge, but with the price of gas last summer, we stayed closer to home and didn't do our usual coast drives, alas!

Kelly, I like all those little towns down the Oregon coast, they have so much more going for them than this peninsula

Lora, the bridge isn't that bad LOL

Thank you Carol & yes the bridge is very cool. I actuallly got to walk across it several years back in the annual run/walk, it was truely exhilarating - of course it was a lovely sunny day which made it especially enjoyable.
Do you have pics of your stash?

Bobbie I totally understand the no driving around thing, this was the first trip we'd done purely for pleasure for more than a year or so & it was so good just to be taking out time out & about..

I was beginning to worry about you! Glad your spirits are lifting!
Just in time to go knee deep in beads!
Hmmm now you've made me want to go looking for the flower sewons -- I don't think I've seen them !
take care!

Glad you are feeling better, Moon Sis. I've had you on my mind a lot the last few weeks, missing your beautiful beadwork project posts.

Thank you Katie, the real name for sew-ons is marguerites they are tiny flower shapes with a hole in the center ;)

Thank you Cynthia, I wish the sun shone more often up here in the great north wet, it would sure make living here a lot nicer..
